October - December Newsletter
Dear colleagues, friends and family,As winter cozies in, I'd love to take a moment to share with you what I'll be up to as this year tiptoes towards its end.First and foremost, I've taken on a new role as the Research Coordinator for MA Live Electronics and Composing for Film at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. This opportunity is a true honor, and I'm looking forward to working alongside the MA students at CvA.Seeing Quintuple is making a return, and this time, I'm excited to collaborate with three remarkable artists: Pedro Matias (sculpture), Giulia Principe (VR) and Mathilde Renault (spatial design).Long-term collaborations are also flourishing. My partnership with Laura Nygren (Show Pony) will revive Lullaby for a Slow Apocalypse at November Music, and right after that, we'll premiere our new multidisciplinary performance,I may fall into the sound, together with scenographer and 3D artist Nina Kay.The Book of Premonitions group is coming back together in November and we're thrilled to present our project at both Korzo and Muziekgebouw.Lastly, I would like to thank Thomas Myrmel for exploring together new sounds to be presented upcoming Wednesday at our Convex Stream debut at Splendor Amsterdam.

Affinities & Movements
An adventurous evening of sound from (un)familiar processes equals a rich tapestry of sound
October 18th, 20h15Splendor AmsterdamSuper excited to premiere this new project with Thomas Myrmel: Convex Stream!Convex StreamThe premiere of this project of Splendorianen Thomas Myrmel and Tatiana Rosa, brings the electronic extension of the trombone and flutes through gesture driven performance to a tumultuous form of enharmonic distortion, punctuated by stillness and flowing through harmonic reverberation.Elective Affinities (NYC - Berlijn)Matthew and Andrea's shared fascination with physical and musical gestures, densely interwoven meshes of events, and the aesthetics of interruption and breakage lay the groundwork for this work. Incorporating concrete sounds, cutting-edge synthesis techniques, live processing, and instrumental and acoustic feedback, their work is in a constant state of molecular combinations and recombinations, of forms in states of development, flux, and collapse.Movement for ListeningThe ambition of the album is to find ways to use tap dance as percussion in a variety of musical styles, genres and collaborations. Searching the extreme limits with different sounds, textures, materials, shoes, dynamics, concepts and rhythms results in a rich tapestry of composed and improvised material, seemlessly brought to stage in the capable hands of Janne Eraker (tap), Ivar Grydeland (gtrs/electr), & Juliana Venter (voice/electr).Matthew Ostrowski & Andrea ParkinsJanne Eraker, Juliana Venter & Ivar GrydelandThomas Myrmel & Tatiana RosaTickets here(Cannot afford? Lullaby for a Slow Apocalypse
November 10th, 20h30Verkadefabriek Clubzaal - November Music

The lore, literature, and eyes through which we predict the end of the world depict a singular event, fiery and full of violence. What if this is wrong? What if the apocalypse is not a singular dramatic event but rather a glacial paced change. What if we reframe the apocalypse from the matriarchal perspective? What if it's soft, warm, gentle?Yes it can still be scary but we can be comforted on the journey. What we need is a Lullaby for the Slow Apocalypse.Tickets here(Cannot afford? It is projected to disappear into the surrounding sea by 2026. I May Fall Into the Sound, is an audio visual work exploring the disappearing island through the gaze of memory and fantasy, The audience witnesses real time decay of the real and fantasy place through musical memories and field recordings. Massancummock is a lens for witnessing our communal erosion — the loss of our home, whether body or planet. This project is made possible with support from Rizoom.Tickets here(Cannot afford? Book of Premonitions
An opera written with 200 children

Book Of Premonitions is unfolding stories and scores, co-created. Bringing together the thoughts, hopes, and imaginations of 200 minds who happen to be 11 and 12 years old, Book of Premonitions is changing the way that opera is made. From one small question and tiny objects from the future, the first Book is waiting to be opened. Looking back
Transmutation
Komma #28 @ PARK TilburgTransmutation is a solo piece exploring diverse aspects of transformation, influenced by the dynamic evolution of change featured in the X exhibition at PARK - Platform for Visual Arts. During my residency at PARK, I chose to further delve into the intricate nuances of change, both in terms of its structural elements and the conditions that enable it.Inspired by the diverse manifestations of change within "X," I composed four distinct movements:Transmogrification, for Bass Flute and Voice, draws from Ricardo van Eyk's Lasso XXV distorted reflections ;Conversion, for Bass Flute and Strega, mirrors the transformative power of small objects on Tim Breukers' Keramiekoven;Displacement, for Voice and Electronics, captures the theme of displaced compositons inspired by Nina van de Ven's Lousy Lingering;Metamorphosis, for Piccolo and Live Electronics, an embodied reaction inspired by Tim Breukers' I'm Bad and Nadia Naveau's Braize en Aout.Thank you De Link and Bart de Vrees for the invitation, Arjan Gebraad for the amazing feedback, and the entire team of PARK for being such great hosts.

For Tigray
Rekindling hope through education in war-ravaged Tigray

Just a week ago, we gathered at Splendor for a heartwarming fundraising event to support education in Tigray. As a continuation of the previous raising awareness event, Alarm Bell for Tigray, Jan Willem Baljet organized an event to support schools and students in Tigray. An evening with music, dance, some speeches and testimonies.Donations collected during the fundraising [STILL ACTIVE] will be used to rebuild destroyed schools and help students and schoolchildren.A horrific war that decimated Tigray has supposedly come to an end with the 'Cessation of Hostilities Agreement' signed in November 2022. But Tigray and Tigrayans remain in great agony. The challenges facing the education sector are enormous. Yet, many schools have officially resumed classes, under trees, on open fields, on the side of their destroyed schools. The biggest challenge now is overcoming hopelessness and rekindling hope in Tigrayan students and children. You can donate via this link or by scanning the QR code below.
