May Newsletter

Dear colleagues, friends and family,I am apparently not the best at keeping such a thing as a regular newsletter...I have also missed to invite you to some heart-warming performances but I intend to nevertheless share a bit of what has been going on, and what is to follow. The year has started full of promises and uncertainties and has slowly been developing itself into an interesting collection of exciting projects, both personal, and artistic.A project that has been going around my mind for a really long time will finally  have its first steps in the following months, and I couldn't be happier with the team of people that agreed to join me on this venture.Thank you Angelo Custódio, Ilse Jobse, André Lourenço and Thomas Brand for your time and inspiring energy. Also new parallel paths filled with olive trees, vineyards and dreams are on the agenda for the upcoming times.

In this concert series, twice a year we musical performances that redefine the idea of what a musical performance can be and can signify. What if the apocalypse is not a singular dramatic event but rather a glacial paced change. What if we reframe the apocalypse from the matriarchal perspective? What if it's soft, warm, gentle?Inspired by an article by Katerina Sidorova, Lullaby for a Slow Apocalypse questions the lore, literature, and eyes through which we predict the end of the world. What if the current depiction of our end as a singular event, fiery and full of violence is wrong? What if the apocalypse is not a singular dramatic event but rather a glacial paced change? What if we reframe the apocalypse from the matriarchal perspective? What if it's soft, warm, gentle? Yes it can still be scary but we can be comforted on the journey. What we need is a Lullaby for the Slow Apocalypse.Tickets here(Cannot afford? For those of you who are not familiar with the War on Tigray please make sure you do some further reading and see if there's space for some action within your own community.https://tghat.com/ Tghat was founded in November 2020 by Gebrekirstos G. Gebremeskel. The founding of Tghat was a response to the Ethiopian government’s imposition of media and telecommunications blackout as part of the war on Tigray. The war on Tigray was launched on the 4th of November 2020, and we published our first Tghat article on November 17. Soon after its founding other concerned Tigrayans joined Tghat.  Gebrekirstos is the founder and chief editor of Tghat. He is a researcher based in the Netherlands and his research focuses on the intersection of Information Retrieval/Recommender Systems and society.
