June Newsletter
Dear colleagues, friends and family,Today, the plan was to be at Muziekgebouw, with the final preparations for Dark Skies.Unfortunately this event was cancelled, Blixa is not able to perform, due to medical reasons. However, even though it did not make it to stage (hopefully in a near future?), I would like to leave a small note, on what an amazing journey it has been to work with these people.

To experiment on contact speakers and materials with the fantastic percussionists of Slagwerk Den Haag.To all the creative approaches to sound of Brecht Beuselinck. To get to meet and work with Blixa Bargeld and visit the Einstürzende Neubauten studio. And most of all, to collaborate again with Jamie Man, who brought me into this project.I hope we can share all this joy with you soon.Meanwhile, this is what's coming up before I close this season and go for vacation.

No-One Show
immersive VR music theatre experienceJune 17th, 14h00 Biënnale Meer dan Muziek (Het Veem, Amsterdam)Yes, we are doing it again! This time in Amsterdam, as part of the Composer's Day!In the age of Artificial Intelligence, omnipresent internet bots and algorithmslead our search engines and heavily influence our access to information and world’s view.Is a performer still an essential part of performance? Or can technology already surpass humans, replacing us in this role? And if so, how autonomous such an “androidic” performer could be from its human creator/programmer?No-One Show takes a viewer on a virtual, audiovisual journey through a world dominated by systems of algorithms and codes, to (re)discover the essence of being human.Tickets here(Cannot afford? Reflective Music
An un-guided music meditationJune 28th - 20h30Splendor Amsterdam Reflective Music is a practice Marko Ivic has been working with for several years, and a regular event in de Roos in Amsterdam since 2022. In his encounters, Marko improvises on the piano using live electronics and invites people to be with themselves: they can sleep, meditate, pay attention to their thoughts, write, draw, cuddle or just listen. The purpose of this initiative is to come together to exercise being present and listen in a different way. It’s a hybrid of music making and a meditative encounter, but without any spiritual methods involved and without the usual rituals of a concert.Marko’s Reflective music comes to Splendor, sharing the sound space with friends musicians Laura, Tatiana and Marc, creating an extended version of this practice with other instruments and their interaction with the use of live electronics.Tickets here(Cannot afford? Each inspires one movement in this first iteration of Tatiana Rosa's collaborative audiovisual work, "Seeing Quintuple".Porrima is a binary star system named after the Roman goddess of prophecy. One star facing the past, the other the future. In this movement, the written word is used as point of departure for the construction of sonic scenes and/or embodied narratives which explore the interplay between distance and intimacy, solitude and connection. The star Vindemiatrix is traditionally an indicator of the beginning of the grape-picking season. It is also said to represent Ampelos, a favourite of the god Bacchus. The connection with seasonal cycles and the stories that surround it create the canvas that allows for the exploration of sign poetry as a means of musical expression. This project is supported by Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst.Tickets here(Cannot afford? Envision our bodies, as an empty room, that has no shape, only sound. Occupants and occupied. They’re always in motion, swirling imperceptibly slow. We drift, tumble, get lost in new perspectives, find other bodies. We dance. Envision the feeling of laughter bubbling up frozen in time. We sleep.
