HUM (an/other) is an immersive participatory installation expanding listening through touch and artificial intelligence. A machine learning system (Proxima), reacting to visitors through camera detection, processes the artist's voice. It generates non-linear narratives in pulsating vibrant utterances  - a poetic space that reimagines body-world relations in tension with our world’s surveillance mechanisms. *This intimate encounter between machine and self, relates surveillance and its impact in the coding of who we are and continually become. The use of factual data for control and capital development contributes to an apparatus that feeds into our fear of the unknown. The work seeks to destabilize these vicious cycles, aligning with a healing direction in resonance with Self and its processes, rather than towards a techno fetishised future.*While the AI ensures the performativity of the installation, visitors are invited to place a custom made tactile transducer on their own bodies, merging themselves with a hybrid organism. The work uses vibration to activate somatic memory, expanding the sense of ‘listening’ through touch and being in ‘touch’. It plays with techno-embodied modes of subversion to the colonial and capitalist regimes of inclusion and exclusion of bodies. Through ‘flesh and bone’, the audience’s bodies become the acoustic space. They amplify its sound while resonating its social-political content. *** CREDITS Concept and direction: Angelo CustódioLive electronics and programming: Tatiana RosaImage direction and editing: Pedro MatiasText and voice: Angelo CustódioTechnical support: Michele AbolaffioWearable design and development: Arthur Guilleminot
